Jhalla Wallah - Ishaqzaade
I love this movie. I know it was very screwed up, and not amazingly well done - but I had such a good experience seeing this film, that I don’t even care. We saw it mid-may in Old Delhi (where the film is based) very near the red fort, down a sketchy little alleyway, up a beaten-up stairway, through a metal detector, in the tiniest movie theater I have ever been in. And, we happened to be the only girls. I also think Parineeti is hilarious.
Enjoy!
yum yum yum!
When I first tried these delicious nuggets of goodness, I came to the conclusion that they were little more than “soggy doughnuts”. Don’t get me wrong, a nice fat glazed DD doughnut is one of my guilty pleasures when I’m stuck in Concord, MA for far too long.
After a few months longer in India, though, I discovered my undying love for this perfectly flavored, cardamomy, sugary treat - and now here we are.

I made them last night, and managed accidentally to fry them crispy - but they turned out alright. I’m hoping my next batch will be even better!!!

Taj Mahal - Agra, UP India
— took a very quick trip to see the Taj Mahal after leaving Varanasi in April. Stunning, but I much preferred the adjacent mosque.
tell me that is not ridiculously cool.
The Tissue Series (collection of anatomical cross sections using quilled paper) - created by Lisa Nilsson
makes me wonder what effect india is going to have on me. it was an amazing film - but the ideas brought up seem to counter intrinsic parts of my life in such simple ways. its going to be interesting.
